The Sequoia Award for Product Innovation
July 28, 2005 Las Vegas, Nevada
At the AWFS Industry Dinnner in Las Vegas, the Sequoia Awards were presented to companies who made contributions to the industry in the areas of environment, ergonomics, productivity, safety, and product innovation.
Laser Products' LT-55 Precision Laser won the Sequoia Award for Product Innovation.
Scott Phillips, the event emcee and the host of the PBS series "American Woodshop," quoted judges, "A fantastic product that is fast and easy to use."
Originally intended for the countertop part of our business to make short work of the templating process, major players in the architectural millwork side of the house have been singing the praises of the LT-55.
The "Untemplator" permits cabinet and millworkers in the commercial and high-end residential markets to make fast work of field measurement verification in the most complex situations and to drop the captured data directly into their AutoCAD drawings.
It is not a camera that makes complicated "point clouds" that need to be manipulated after you get back to the office, and not an awkward mechanical arm, but a precision laser linked to a PDA that allows a single person to accomplish in minutes what used to take hours or days...and with greater accuracy.
"We purchased the LT-55 laser last year at the 2005 Las Vegas AWFS show. I was really impressed with the demonstration and a little skeptical about how accurate it would be. The salesman showed me within a few minutes how to operate it and I took it for a few test spins. I measured from about 30 feet away two columns in the building on a wall that were about 30 feet apart. The laser told me the distance between them and then I measured between them manually to see how accurate it was and it was within 1/16." I was impressed. A few more times playing with it and I was sold. Now that I have been using it for a while I really like it and am impressed on how accurate it is in shooting radius walls and angles. I use it on practically every job to make DXF drawings I can import into AutoCAD / Microvellum for my CNC router to cut out the parts for a perfect fit every time."
"I would give the LT-55 a 100% thumbs up. Great job!!! Thanks guys, this is a great product."

Job Site Laser is Amazing
Chris Britton, (Head Custom Designer) of Francis and Wane, (www.francisandwane.com), known for ultra high end millwork and an incredible design showroom in the prestigious Palm Springs area of California says, "The architect showed a 30 foot wall on a 1144" radius on the drawing. Our job was to build curved front cabinets to perfectly match this wall. How do you field verify what the framers actually built and turn that into manufacturable information?"
"We found the LT-55 Job Site Laser to be amazing," Britton continued, "We shot a number of points along the wall, and captured the data in the LT-55's PDA in .dxf format, and dropped that curve right into our Microvellum drawing. We made necessary modifications to our drawing and we were ready to send the data out to our Onsrud CNC router for manufacturing.....Amazing!"

Dear Sirs,
I would like to thank you for helping us put together a perfect combination of software tools to utilize our cnc router to the fullest.
The LT-55 Precision Laser Templator is very versatile in our business. We use it for templating laminate and solid surface countertops daily. We have more recently found it invaluable in making digital templates of both curved and rectangular soffits so that we could reproduce reception wall and counters in our commercial division. Bringing the dxf files from the LT-55 into Microvellum makes those reception counters and nurses stations a breeze.
The constant improvements and support coming from the manufacturer is great.
Sincerely,
Bob Kisha (Partner)

Dear Mr. Thieman;
As you noted Counters Plus, Inc. has acquired two (2) of the LT 55 units, and I am considering the purchase of a third unit. That in its self should speak to how impressed we are with this devise.
Our business is the manufacture and installation of solid surface and quartz surface countertops. Two and a half years ago we made the investment to convert our manufacturing process over to a CNC based process. That was a great move forward in the production of countertops, but the real winner came when we linked our process up to starting with a digital template produced by the LT 55.
Everyone in this business knows how “unique” each kitchen or bath installation is, with square ness and wall flatness issues. With the LT 55 we can measure that “uniqueness” and cut our countertops out to be an exact fit. An additional benefit is a significant reduction of installation time.
Just thought you would like to know.
Sincerely,
Craig T. Wentzel, Owner
